Curriculum
The Hartpury curriculum has been developed and shaped by our distinctively Christian vision: Shine From the Inside Out. We strive to ensure the curriculum is deeply rooted in the teaching of Jesus and the 12 Christian values we explore together to enable our children to shine in all aspects of their learning.
At Hartpury our curriculum is based upon the National Curriculum. Our children learn core subjects of Mathematics, English, and Science, alongside foundation subjects of history, geography, art, and many more. Children develop a wide range of skills as they explore the curriculum. We recognise the importance of practicing previously taught knowledge and skills as well as learning the new and are building a curriculum which allows time for this in each lesson.
We recognise the importance of guiding our children as learners who are independent, kind and understanding members of society and therefore we place a strong emphasis on building mental health and PSHE into our curriculum - using My Happy Mind as our basis for this.
At Hartpury the teachers put the children at the centre of curriculum development and adaptations are made to allow those with additional needs to access a full and balanced curriculum.
Our staff provide a wide range of exciting learning opportunities within a supportive and calm environment. Our curriculum allows us to promote a mix of independence and collaborative work, which develops well-rounded children who are prepared for the next step in their educational journey.
A wide range of extra-curricular opportunities exist for children to explore and enjoy. Regular clubs include: choir, sports, art, construction, gymnastics and crafts.
At Hartpury we firmly believe that providing memorable experiences is how children learn best. Each class tries to incorporate a range of class visits regularly to give children tangible experiences which help them to scaffold their learning.
